This box is made for kids 3+, I believe it is 3-5. However, we have been getting these since Aryi was almost 2 years old. There are lots of things toddlers are capable of when allowed to try and given some assistance. I have always just put away harder activities for later.
They always pick the coolest books for their boxes. Every book was a hit with me. Aryi loved all of them except for A Bad Case of the Stripes. We love the Mailbox. Aryi is super into puzzles right now and since we are learning letters, this is right up his alley. These letters are also great. I love that they can be used with playdough. I also love that they use all of the books to create crafts. It is like they have created lessons. We will read the Not a Box book and then make a not a box box.

Worth it?
Is it worth it? Yes. Money wise it is definitely worth it. To buy everything you need to recreate this it is getting close to twice the price of just buying this crate. For close to the price of the entire crate you can basically buy the mailbox, letters, and books. The crate is also worth it in value to me. We got 2 new toys, 5 new books, and tons of activities to go along with it. These crates are magical to me. I love them and think they are absolutely worth it.
