Lovevery Review 3: The Sensor Play Kit Months 5-6
September 26, 2023
Disclaimer
My son was born prematurely. He was born at 26 weeks and 6 days (3 months and 1 day early). If this box is for a baby 5-6 months, that means it should have worked for Aryi at 8-9 months, in theory. I feel that all of this makes our experience with development and play particularly unique.
Play Guide Months 5-6
This guide is amazing! I have talked about this in previous reviews, but I love the little milestone information. I never tried to compare Aryi to those milestones, but it helped me know what we should be striving to get to at his own personal pace.
Lovevery: $0.00 not included in the price breakedown
Spinning Rainbow
This rainbow spinner was great for when Aryi was trying to sit up by himself (this was about 6-9 months). I would sit behind him and put this spinner in front of him. This way he could play and if he fell he would fall on me. When he was learning to stand (about 10 months he started this), I had this on a shelf, I was behind him and had him play with it where I could catch him if he fell. Now we are able to use this for learning colors as well since it is a rainbow.
The rainbow dupe is twice as expensive. The amazon dupe, in my opinion, has ugly colors.

Magic Tissue Box with Magic Tissues
Maybe due to him being a premiere, Aryi did not get this when first introduced. We reintroduced it to him a few months later (a more appropriate time for his corrected age), and on his first try he pulled out all of the tissues. He loves to have me put the tissues on his head. You can play peek-a-boo with the tissues. Since Aryi is a little older we have more kits, he loves to put the tissues through the clear plastic tube in kit 5 (9-10 months). He also, once he is done taking out the tissues will shove them back into the hole. This toy has just been amazing, truly growing with Aryi. Clearly a winner for us.
The quality of this toy in particular is fantastic. It has been thrown and tossed off shelves, it still looks brand new.
The amazon dupe I found was about 10 dollars more expensive. There were cheaper ones with fabric boxes. As far as a real dupe with a wooden box and fabric tissues, this was it.

Organic Cotton Rainbow Ball
Aryi never cared about this at this young age. His fingers were so tiny and so weak that he couldn’t even get them in the little spaces like babies do. He does now play with this ball, as well as other balls all the time. Balls are his favorite thing. He wakes up saying ball. He goes to sleep saying ball. He points to everything ball shaped in the environment and says “baaw” (his version of ball). Now that we are teaching him a little through his play, I will go through and show him the colors on this ball. We will do the Ms. Rachel rainbow song when playing with the ball and I will point out the colors to him.
The dupe I found was about twice as expensive, and patterned. I personally did not like that it is patterned. With the Lovevery one, there are solid colors. It can be used for learning. It is also super vibrant and beautiful.

“Parts of Me”
As with all Lovevery books, this book includes real children of all different races. We love to see this as Aryi is half Nepali. He can see children that look like him and ones that don’t. This is one of Aryi’s favorite Lovevery books. I wrote in the Nepali words for each bodypart. We go through and point to the body parts and point to our own bodies. I think this book was a big contributor of Aryi learning his body parts. He can now point to all of the parts of his body mentioned in this book in both English and Nepali.
The dupe I found also will help teach your child parts of the body. But, it is missing that beautiful Lovevery Diversity. It is a few dollars cheaper though.

Play Socks
We got next to no use out of the playsocks. Aryi don’t ever want to play with these. He wanted them off. He wanted bare feet in his mouth. He wanted to discover his own feet sockless. It was so funny. He would even ignore his feet if they were on. I am not saying this is a bad toy. Aryi is funny. Another kid might like this toy and it may help them in their feet discovery.
The dupe I found was a few dollars cheaper and it comes with little wrist jingles too.

Tummy Time Wobbler
Aryi never cared about this. He still doesn’t care about it. He just throws it sometimes, like it is a ball (my ball crazy baby). It does what it is supposed to do. It wabbles.
The Lovevery one is about the same price as the dupe.

“Hi, Baby”
This book is super cute. Again, Lovevery gives a book with diverse babies. Aryi loves babies and other children. So obviously he loves this book. In this book the babies are from different countries, saying Hi in their own language. I think this is a great introduction to babies learning that there are different languages, people talk differently. In this book there is even a baby from India saying Namaste from Hendi, which is the same word for “Hi” that is said in Nepali.
The “dupe” is not the same concept. Basically, it is just saying Hi baby.
Lovevery: $9.40
Amazon Dupe: $8.99
Silicone Sensory Book
Not a hit. Aryi never cared, still doesn’t care.
The dupe I found isn’t really the same. It is like a teether attached to a cloth book. Whereas, the Lovevery one, the book is the teather, filled with cloth pages.
Lovevery: $9.40
Amazon Dupe: $5.99
Worth it?
Amazon Dupes total out to be $126.31 after taxes are added.
The Lovevery Playkits come in a few buying options(7 items/playkit and 2 items/book bundle):
$80 for 1 box ($83.56 after taxes) – $11.94/item
$98 for 1 box with book bundle ($102.36 after taxes) – $11.94/item + $9.40/book bundle item
$228 for 3 boxes ($238.14 after taxes) – $11.34/item
$282 for 3 boxes with book bundle ($294.54 after taxes) – $11.34/item + $9.40/book bundle item
$432 for 6 boxes ($451.20 after taxes) – $10.74/item
$540 for 6 boxes with book bundle ($564.00 after taxes) – $10.74/item + $9.40/book bundle item
You can save between $24.05 and $32.31 when buying the lovevery boxes over trying to buy dupes on Amazon. I paid for 6 boxes, saving me the $32.31.
To me this ox was completely worth it. The quality of Lovevery toys are simply unmatched. The toys really grow with your child. Our favorite things from this box are the body parts book, the hi baby book, the ball, the rainbow spinner, and the tissue box. All of these toys have grown beautifully with Aryi, and he is still using them at 17 months old.
We could have done without the socks, teething book, and wobbler. I still find the box to be worth it anyway just due to the quality (absolute heirloom quality) of the toys. They will definately be passed down to other children, or if we don’t have other children, then grandchildren, who might love the toys Aryi didn’t like.
