Do A Toy Rotation With Me 7

For some background introduction information on toy rotations see my first toy rotation blog at by clicking the link.
Last week’s toys and books:
This past week we got a new Lovevery kit. That was a big part of the toy rotation this week. All of the toys from the kit were a hit. As expected, Aryi enjoyed playing with all of the Lovevery toys this week. I wouldn’t say he has a favorite, I would just say he enjoyed them all. I will say the puzzle was a little frustrating for Aryi because you have to put the bottom pieces with the hole up. This was super hard for him to understand. Once those were in correctly, the rest of the puzzle was easy for him. The Kiwico pegboard was the biggest hit as it has been for the past like month that it has been out. He never picked up the counting cards or Lovevery cards, probably because of all the fun new toys out this week. Aryi loved having all of his books out like this. He kept bringing me the Lovevery baby signs book. I don’t know why, but he was LOVING this book this past week.
This week’s toys and books:
The theme for this week is kind of Music, or half music with fine motor skill Lovevery toys thrown in there as well.
Musical instruments (Amazon/Gifts) – I am realizing I have not brought out the instruments in a while, and I am feeling kind of guilty about that because I know Aryi loves them. But, we have so many toys it is hard to remember what needs to be rotated through.
Ball drops (Lovevery) – I brought out all 3 of the ball drops out. I think I have talked about this before, but I like to bring them out as kind of one toy. These bring so much joy to Aryi even though he might be getting a little old for them, he keeps loving them.
Music Books – I only have a few music books, but I like to bring them out with the instruments.
Pegboard (Lovevery) – I brought this out after what feels like a long time. I love this toy for fine motor work. You really have to be gentle to stack the pegs without making them fall.
Posting box (Lovevery) – Aryi never got the purple lever on this toy, so I was thinking maybe he is old enough to start to understand this feature of this toy.
Stacking cups (Lovevery) – This is a staple for fine motor skills and Aryi loves his “Bah” cup Nepali.
Nesting Containers (Lovevery) – These are fabulous for fine motor skills and also a big hit for Aryi. I usually always bring them out when I bring out the cups.
Bus with peg people (Lovevery) – This is a new toy from last week. Aryi loved playing with it last week. I thought we could also get some more music in singing “The Wheels on the Bus” as we play.
Busy box (Lovevery) – This was super fun but also some of the locks were more challenging. I thought we could work on it a little more this week.
Book Stack (Lovevery) – I loved having these out, so I wanted to keep them out.
Library books – I have a few Thanksgiving books checked out, a color book, and a pete the cat book.
Letter Basket:
This has been a huge hit with Aryi. I did not know at first if I was going to be leaving this basket out for 1 week or 2. I decided I will leave it out again this week, that will make it 2 weeks. Aryi is doing great with identifying capital A and the sound it makes. He also can say some A words like Apple when asked. However, he is having more difficulty realizing that the lowercase a is the same as A. For this reason I will wait until next week to introduce B. Remember, he is 19 months old (corrected 16 months). I am amazed and so proud of him every day.
The videos I ended up playing were The Good and The Beautiful ABCs and ABC sounds, the Letter A from ABC mouse, and April the Alligator from Easy Peasy.
I said the letter and showed it to Aryi. Then I will said the letter sound. This is an A and it says AAAA. We went through words that start with the Letter A. I pulled out the items as we went through the words. For A I have an Alligator, Airplane, an Airplane flashcard, A block, Letter A, Felt Apple, and Ant. I have an alphabet puzzle. I let Aryi Identify the letter A from a few pieces and He placed the letter A in his alphabet puzzle as we say A is for AAAA. We read whatever related books Aryi wants to that day. I have an Alphabet book, Alligator book, Airplane book, and an Apple book. Nexed we watched the 4 youtube videos. Then we did an A related coloring page or craft.
This format worked so well. Aryi thought we were playing and reading books like always. I will continue like this over the next week and with other letters and their related materials.
