Do a Toy Rotation With Me 10
December 22, 2023
For some background introduction information on toy rotations see my first toy rotation blog at by clicking the link.
Last week’s toys and books:
Aryi loves his cars, he really hasn’t started pretending to drive them yet, but he likes to pull them all down, call them cars, and find his ice cream car. He has started driving his bus. He pushes it around the living room. Aryi did not use his ball drops much this week except to stick all the toys that would fit in the bottom of the big one. He did not touch his number cards, flashlight, or stacker at all.
This Kiwico pegboard has been a wonderful toy for Aryi. I might say it is our favorite toy of all. He worked really hard to learn to color match on here and has been able to transfer that to other toys. The Lovevery pegboard was great to have out as usual, a big hit.
With all of this in mind, we are pretty much changing everything this week since everything was out for 2 weeks.
This week’s toys and books:
I have not put out animals in a very long time. When I noticed this, I felt a little sad about it. I know one of Aryi’s favorite things is animals. He loves when I pull out the animals. I may keep some of these out next week as well.
Car drop (Lovevery) – I wasn’t thinking about this week being Cc basket week, and I just put up the cars. I don’t want to have them out for a third week, so I decided to pull this down instead. That way we still have a reason to say car.
Wooden books (Lovevery) – I usually pull these out with the animals. We like to talk about the animals on each page.
Wooden busy board (Lovevery) – This is a newer lovevery toy. Aryi is having a tough time figuring it out. I thought it would be great to pull it out again after a long break to see if it will be easier for him now.
Shape puzzle (Lovevery) – Aryi got really frustrated with this toy last time because he could not figure out that you have to put the piece down on a cirtin side. He kept trying to put the piece in upside down. You can do that, but then the other pieces wont go on top. I brought this out hoping he might get it now.
Sea animals (Aquarium) – We don’t talk about the sea animals much besides sharks and fish. I hoped bringing this out would correct that.
Sea animal matching game (Aquarium) – I thought we could start to work on some matching or naming of sea animals. I could tell him to find the sharks and he could give them to me. Find the ones that are the same to teach the concept of the same.
Farm, farm animals, and tractor (Kiwico) – Aryi loves the farm animals and their noises. This should be a hit as always.
Farm busyboard (Kiwico) – Opening and closing doors along with farm animal noises should be a hit like it always is.
Farm animal flashcards (Kiwico) – Aryi loves flashcards. I might need to get him some more.
Rabbits in a burrow (Lovevery) – Aryi usually loves this when I pull it out. We sing hop little bunnies and put them in and take them out.
Posting carrots (Lovevery) – These are usually a blast and I like to take them out with the bunnies and farm animals, so Aryi can feed them carrots. He loves that.
Lovevery Blockset – I have decided I will be keeping this out, out of the way, but available for times when we need an activity to do.
Lovevery Books – I keep these out all the time. They are Aryi’s favorite type of book.
Hello, World! Books – I decided I am going to start leaving these books out too to give Aryi more book options.
Animal Books – Since I have an animal theme this week, of course I pulled out the animal books for Aryi.
Christmas Books – I have a few Christmas books and have checked out a few from the library since we are nearing Christmas, we can enjoy all the Christmas things.
Letter Basket:
This week I switched out our Bb basket for a Cc basket. The videos I will be playing are The Good and The Beautiful ABCs and ABC sounds, the Letter Cc from ABCmouse, How to write the Letter Cc from ABCmouse, and Cathy the Cat from Easy Peasy All-in-one Homeschool. These are the links for those songs in the order I wrote them:

I say the letter and show it to Aryi. Then I will say the letter sound. This is a C and it says CCCCC. We go through words that start with the Letter Cc. I pull out the items as we go through the words. For Cc, I have a cup, car, cookie, caterpillar, cow, carrot, candy cane, cat flashcard, car flashcard, and cloud flashcard. I have an alphabet puzzle. I will let Aryi Identify the letters A, B, and C from a few pieces and he can place the letters in his alphabet puzzle as we say A is for AAAA, B is for BBBB, C is for CCCC. We can read whatever related books Aryi wants to that day. I have 2 Alphabet books; ‘A is for Apple’ and ‘AB See”. I have books that feature C words; ‘Car, Car, Truck, Jeep’, ‘Cows can Moo Can You’, ‘You are my Cupcake’, and ‘The Crunching Munching Caterpillar’. I got all of these C word books from the library. This is a great way for us to practice our C sound when Aryi points to the things in the book and says what they are. Then we can do a C related coloring page or craft. I get some of these crafts from education.com and Easy Peasy All-in-one Homeschool. I also just make some crafts myself.
This format has been working well for us. Aryi thought we were playing and reading books like always, but we were learning too. I plan to have this basket out for the next two weeks and move on to Dd.
