Lovevery Review 10: The Companion Playkit 22-24 Months

Lovevery Review 10: The Companion Play Kit 22-24 Months (with Price Comparisons)

April 25, 2024

Disclaimer

My son was born prematurely. He was born at 26 weeks and 6 days (3 months and 1 day early). If this box is for a toddler 22-24 months old, that means it should have worked for Aryi at 26-29 months, in theory. In the past year, he has really caught up to his chronological age and according to our Developmental NP surpassed it. Therefore this playkit for the most part has been great for him at his current stage. I feel that all of this makes our experience with development and play particularly unique, and our thoughts on the playkits particularly unique.

Play Guide Months 22-24

As always, this play guide is amazing. It gives you so many activities to do with the toys in the kits. There are also extra age appropriate activities to do with your toddler that involve cheap things you can buy or things laying around your home. In addition to this there is great information about development and what is going on with your little one at this age.

Wooden Posting Stand

This toy is one of my least favorite in the kit, that is because we have other posters by Lovevery and other companies that Aryi has already mastered. We have a poster with carrots that has an interchangeable lid to post household things like q tips. Because of this, Aryi’s skills are more advanced and this toy is not really necessary. Having different sized pegs is great for learning bigger and smaller when it comes to circumference, but this could have been achieved the same way with another add on to the carrot poster. Overall, the toy is exceptional quality like all Lovevery toys (and I love that it reminds me of my testing rack). The need for this toy just isn’t there for us. You can get a toy similar but also different than this from Amazon for a few more dollars.

Mosaic Button Board

I love this toy. Color matching is one of the things we are working on with Aryi. That makes this a great toy for us right now. We are starting with the easier pages and moving on from that. I will say that I wish the colors were not so similar. The green and yellow look similar and the red and orange look very similar. I think you need colors that are easier to distinguish at this age. This toy is also great for fine motor skills. You have to get the button in the little hole and pull them out when you are done. This is a great multipurpose toy. You can get a cheaper version on Amazon that is frankly ugly.

“Graham Turns Two”

This book is super cute. In this book, Graham turns two, has a party, and we get to identify balloon colors. There is cake and a big milk spill. This book is so much fun for Aryi to read. I think this is a great book for my toddler approaching his 2ed birthday. I also love that it is real children (Aryi loves real books). You can get a cheaper book about turning 2 from Amazon.

Transfer Tweezers and Felt Stars

This toy is great for fine motor skills. We are working on using the tweezers. This is really hard for Aryi and I know this toy will grow with him. We can also go over colors with these stars. You can get a cheaper plastic version of this on Amazon.

Montessori Animal Match with Drawstring Bag

Aryi loves these real looking animals. He loves animals in general, but especially these. He loves matching the animals to the wooden cards. He particularly loves making his animals go to sleep. It is so funny to me. He said that the monkey is sleepy and lays it down onto the monkey card. You can find something similar on Amazon for a similar price.

The Buckle Barrel

This buckle barrel was really exciting to get. Aryi has been wanting to buckle his high chair and his backpacks a lot lately up until this. I think this could be a really fun car toy for him in particular since he is already getting some of the buckles himself. You can get a similar, but ugly version of this on Amazon for a similar price.

Chunky Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

This has been one of the best toys for Aryi in this crate since we got it. It is really fun watching him try to get the square. He can always get all of the puzzle pieces together, but they are not always a square. He is so happy when he finally gets the square. I love that they are so chunky and heavy, so you are not trying to figure out a puzzle and get the fine motor skills to go with it at the same time. There is really nothing like this on Amazon. You can get a wooden puzzle, but it is not chunky and has what I think is way too many pieces.

“Things I Can Do”

I love this book. It gets Aryi up and moving. I think it is really great for him to see what he is capable of, and this book goes over exactly that. I found a book like this on Amazon that is cheaper, but not real people.

“Leo and Melody at the Farm”

This is one of the best Lovevery books we have. I love when they add in special touches like flaps and touch and feel to their real world books. That is exactly what they did in this book, and it works. Aryi is in love with this book. You can get another farm book for about the same price from Amazon, but it definitely is not the same.

Is it worth it?

If you look at these prices alone, you could just say no. However, I believe this kit is totally worth it for us. Not only do you get all of the toys, but the quality is so much higher than anything you will get from Amazon. You are also getting the research. These toys are appropriate for my child at this age and this is how I should play with him.
