For some background introduction information on toy rotations see my first toy rotation blog at by clicking the link.
Last week’s toys and books:
We had so much fun with these toys for about 2 weeks. We are potty training right now. I think because of this Aryi is too busy to get board of his toys. Since we are going to potty so often and Aryi is learning a lot about his body and how to hold and release and identify when he has to go, it is like he is playing with his toys, but his mind is focusing on that. We have also been reading a lot of books on the potty, so his mind is probably exhausted. He didn’t play much with the penguins or the color game, so I am keeping it out. I am keeping out the books and rainbow for the rest of June. I will switch out everything else.
This week’s toys and books:
This week we are keeping more of the rainbow theme going. I am keeping the books from last week, but I really wanted to pull out the puzzles. Aryi asked for his racing cars last week during potty training, so I pulled it down. I wanted to add to this too by pulling out more cars.
Double Sided Puzzle (Lovevery) – Pulling out puzzles.
Stacking Rings (Lovevery) – More rainbows. Aryi liked this, but did not over use it, so it is staying out.
Lock box (Lovevery) – Pulling out puzzles. This feels like a puzzle to me.
Penguins (Knowledge crate) – These little penguins are different rainbow colors. I want to use them for color sorting.
Drop box (Kiwico) – This just seemed like a fun little add in toy.
Color matching game (Kiwico) – Rainbows.
Books – I have a few color books, some books about how everyone is different, but we are all still people, still the same. I threw in our two consent books this week.
My Rain Printables and related books (ThisMomThing on etsy) – We can go through my prints more this week. We should have a few rainy days coming up. I have related books pulled.
Puzzles (Lovevery) – Pulling out puzzles.
Construction vehicle puzzle (Gift) – Pulling out puzzles. This is a two in one, it is vehicles as well.
Cars (Melissa and Doug/Amazon) – Thought I would pull these out to go with the other cars.
Racing cars (Lovevery) – Aryi asked for these last week after reading a Lovevery book, I am keeping them out.
Rainbow sensory bin – Of course, we still have out the rainbow busy bin I made for loads of color matching fun. Aryi is so creative. He used a red pipe cleaner and had the red person kick a red pom pom through the “goal”, like at soccer.
Sensory bins (Knowledge crate) – Of course, we still also have all of our knowledge crate bins out.
We will also be continuing to work in our knowledge crate. Check out the prints I made of some fun desert poems. You can print them all for free by clicking on any of the photos below.
Letter Basket:
This week we are keeping our letter Jj basket. The videos I will be playing are linked below if you are interested in playing them yourself.
I say the letter and show it to Aryi. Then I will say the letter sound. This is a Jj and it says jjjjj. We go through words that start with the Letter Jj. I pull out the items as we go through the words. For Jj, I have a jaguar, juice, and an Jj block. I have an alphabet puzzle with letters A-J out. I will let Aryi Identify the letters from a few pieces and he can place the letters in his alphabet puzzle as we say A is for AAAA, B is for BBBB, C is for CCCC, and so on. We can read whatever related books Aryi wants to that day. I have Alphabet books; ‘see, touch, feel ABC’, ‘abc’, ‘Once Upon an Alphabet’, ‘A is for Apple’ and ‘AB See”. I have books that feature Jj words; ‘Jungle Book’, ‘Jump’,’ and ‘Bubbles’ (one of the main characters is a jellyfish). I got the Jj word books from the library. This is a great way for us to practice our Jj sound when Aryi points to the things in the book and says what they are. Then we can do a Jj related coloring page or craft. I get some of these crafts from education.com and Easy Peasy All-in-one Homeschool. I also just make some crafts myself.
This format has been working well for us. Aryi thought we were playing and reading books like always, but we were learning too. I plan to have this basket out for the next two weeks then move on to Kk, so come back for that. Aryi comes to me and says basket, basket like 5 times a day. He enjoys this so much. To him it is play, to me, he is learning.
Number Basket:
I am keeping this number basket pretty much the same. I put the tactile flashcards back in. I have peg boards with the numbers 1-10. I also have all of our number books in here: ”Numbers”, “How Many?”, “Counting with Barefoot Critters”, “Big and Little”, “Let’s Count”, “Baby Math”, “Poppy’s Surprise”, “Few and Many”, and “Pop-up Peekaboo Numbers”. I also threw in some wooden animals to use as manipulatives. I have 1 pig, 2 lions, and 3 bears. The bears can also be broken down, 1 is a polar bear and 2 are brown bears. Two of the animals are little and three of the animals are big. I play number videos that I find on Youtube sometimes.
