The treasure chest seems cheap. I HATED all the little pieces. It just isn’t appropriate for a 3 year old. This Sprout Crate is supposed to be for people ages 3-5. I DON’T think that this crate is appropriate for the first few crates. There is NO WAY that my 3 year old could put this together, even with help he wouldn’t have the strength to put the pieces together. The Dupe is $7 more, but you do not have to put it together. This was cute in theory, but not as great in reality.

Map Kit
This is fun, but cheap. It is no more than a plastic container with some crayons and a dry erase board. I don’t know how you could make this better, but it seems like it could have. The Dupe is $5 more
Amazon Dupe: $5.99 + $4.85 + $6.99

X Marks the Spot
This book is cute. I do think that it is a fantastic way to introduce a treasure map. Together with the map Kit, this is a good way to teach your child about maps. I love these little books and wish I could buy just these sets of books. The Dupe is $3 more.
Amazon Dupe: $8.36

The Boy Who Loved Maps
This book is a bit much for a 3 year old who does not really understand anything about maps yet. I do think it would be great for kids on the older range of the kit. The Dupe is $5 more.

Each item would be $8 and the add on book would be $12.
Based on the information above, this box is absolutely worth it based solely on price. It is close to half the price of the dupes. This crate, however, is not worth it to me and I would not buy it again. This kit should be given to children at the older side of this age range. Other crates seem like they would be better for kids at the younger end of the age group (dinosaur, space, and camping crates) with the way they show up on the website. The items in this crate were overall a disappointment.
