Lovevery Review 8: The Adventurer Play Kit Months 16-18
October 31, 2023
Disclaimer
My son was born prematurely. He was born at 26 weeks and 6 days (3 months and 1 day early). If this box is for a baby 16-18 months, that means it should have worked for Aryi at 19-21 months, in theory. I feel that all of this makes our experience with development and play particularly unique, and our thoughts on the playkits particularly unique.
Play Guide Months 16-18
This Play Guide is priceless. It is full of useful information about development through this age group. It also contains a guide to how to play with each toy in the box. There are even further ways to play with your child with items you can buy cheaply or items you might have around your house. This can be extremely helpful in working with your child on their development through play.

Race and Chase Ramp with Cars
This toy is great. It always get tons of play when I have it out. The quality is amazing. It is super sturdy. I love that you can just toss the cars down and in almost any direction it will roll down. This was a super smart way to make cars for a ramp toddler friendly since they are still working on their fine motor skills. Aryi loves cars. He loves to scream car and toss the car down the ramp.
The Amazon dupe is pretty much the same thing for the same price, however there is only 1 ramp, so there is no possibility of racing.

Community Garden Puzzle
This puzzle is super cute. Aryi is still working on mastery of this puzzle. We love the garden vegetable theme and Aryi will sometimes “feed” the vegetables to toy animals. The one thing about this puzzle I don’t like is the plastic pieces. I wish it was wooden pieces like the other puzzles. The plastic pieces have held up so far, but I don’t have much hope.
You can get a similar, uglier puzzle from Amazon for about half the price.

“Max and Nana go to the Park”
Aryi loves this book. He gets to see Max going to the park, swinging, climbing up the playground set, and sliding down the slide. You get to count steps, 1, 2, 3. Aryi counts them, 2, 2, 2. There is also the conversation of getting hurt and dealing with the ouchy. We love reading about the real kid and his grandma’s day at the park.
There is a dupe for about half price on Amazon, however it is cartoon people, not real people.

Threadable Bead Kit with Drawstring Bag
This toy is super cool. There are varying sized plastic and wooden beads along with a wooden needle attached to a thread. Aryi is working on mastering this toy. He is great at stringing the beads, but forgets to switch hands to let the beed fall down the thread.
The Amazon dupe is nearly half priced from the Lovevery toy.

Wooden Stacking Pegboard
Aryi loves this stacking pegboard. He is great at stacking the pegs. He stacks them and tips them over. When tipped over they will stay together and lean until the stack is too tall. Aryi loves to watch them tip. Eventually when the pegs fall, Aryi goes “uh oh”. Then he will post them in the base and stack them again.
There is a plastic version of this on Amazon that is about half price.

Fuzzy Bug Shrub
This toy was such a surprise for me. Aryi loves containers. He quite enjoys opening and closing the container. He likes to put the bugs in and take them out. We talk about what the bugs are and practice sticking them to the felt.
There is a bug container dupe you can get that has a bunch of ladybugs with numbers on it. It is a little bit more expensive, but the ladybugs have numbers on them and can be used in number learning.

Amazon Dupe: $27.29
“Opposites”, “Being Silly”, “Big and Little”, “Few and Many”, and “Clean and Messy”
All of these books are real people, exactly how Aryi likes them. He loves holding and flipping through all of the tiny toddler sized books. Being Silly is Aryi’s favorite. He loves the silly glasses “gaga” that the children wear and the silly faces they make. Each of these books contains an important concept in early learning. These are some of my favorite books from Lovevery.
The dupes I found on amazon are quite different, they do not teach these important early learning concepts (except the one that teaches big and little), they teach other things that you would likely already have books about.

Looking at the price breakdown you could assume, no, this kit is not worth it. However, price is not my only consideration when deciding whether to buy a playkit. The information in the play guide is priceless. Also, quality is a huge consideration for me. The Lovevery play kits have impeccable quality. They last forever and will be great hand me downs for other children or even grandchildren. Every toy in this kit has been played with and I know they will get tons more play, some of them, for years to come.
