What My 16 Month Old Ate Today 8.23.2023

September 5, 2023

Disclaimer – I am not a nutritionist or an expert in nutrition in any way. I am just a mom sharing what my son ate on this day. This is not a meal plan or a guide for anyone else. This is just what works for us. In particular this is a good example of things that can be made on an easy day since nothing is really homemade.

Milk – 06:00am – 120mL/4oz whole cow’s milk

Aryi started his day off with a bottle of milk. He is always super thirsty in the mornings and wants something to drink.

Breakfast – 07:30am – Lito and cherry greek yogurt

Lito is a Nepali kind of version of oats. It is made from oats, cashews, lentils, and other nutrient rich foods. My mother-in-law brought some from Nepal when she came to visit us. We cook it in a pot with milk (like oatmeal). We cooked up a few days worth, this is the second day of it. I add yogurt to the top to give it some flavor, fats, and extra protein.

Snack 1 – 09:00am – Teething biscuit

Aryi loves these. He eats them when he just needs some light snack to hold him over between meals.

Lunch – 11:00am – Lasagna and mixed vegetables

This is just Stoffers oven baked lasagna and a bag of microwave broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower.

Milk – 12:00pm – 240mL/8oz whole cow’s milk with vitamin

I give Aryi a bottle of milk before he goes he takes his nap. It helps him get to sleep to drink some milk.

***Those of you concerned about my son still drinking out of a bottle, my son is a preemie, his corrected age is 13 months old. We are working on the transition away from the bottle. We are not too worried about it currently. He does drink his water from regular (straw or open mouth) cups throughout the day.

Snack 2 – 02:00pm – Grain Bar

These are one of Aryi’s favorite things to eat. He always says “mmmmh” when he eats these bars.

Snack 3 – 03:30pm – Pouch

I love these pouches. They are super clean. The only ingredients are the ones you see on the front plus lemon juice. I used to give these to Aryi as lunch sometimes. I don’t normally do this anymore because he is more hungry than that at meal times.

Dinner – 05:30pm – Chicken gouda pear sausage, banana, and the last 4 lil’crunchies

This is the first time I ever made this sausage. He loved it. Bananas are always a big hit.

Milk – 07:00pm – 240mL/8oz whole cow’s milk
