Last week’s toys and books

We had so much fun with our Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day baskets this week. I will link those below. I will be keeping them out until the holidays are over. Aryi played with every single toy that has been out for the last two weeks. We had so much fun together.

This week’s toys and books:

I am not going to talk much about these toys, since there are just so many. I am just going to say that I am putting out every single Panda crate toy from Kiwico that we have so far. We will have the opportunity to learn about colors, numbers, matching, animals, object permanence, in and out, up and down, stacking, shapes, vehicles, sounds, and much more when playing with these toys. I will list them below.

The toys we have out include a pegboard, bead maze, drop box, cylinder puzzle, shape puzzles, bus, stacking cups, stacking blocks with colored windows, plinko toy, poppy cars, peg car, tissue box, coin box, shakers, soft blocks, rolling ball toy, poppy squeaker toy, Mooing cow, farm busy board, farm, wooden animals, tractor, pull car, weather toys, and Poppy pillow.

We also have out all of the Poppy books and every book bundle book that came with our Panda crates.

I also have our letter blocks set out, but that is more because I think I will keep that there to pull letters from more easily. If Aryi wants to play with the blocks, that is fine too.

Letter Basket:

This week we are switching to an Aa-Ee review basket. The videos I will be playing are found below. I will definitely not be playing all of these videos every day, but choosing a type of video and playing all A-E. Then I will play an ABCs video.

I say the letter and show it to Aryi. Then I will say the letter sound. I will do this for each letter. For example, this is a Ee and it says EEEEEEE. We go through words that start with the Letters and possibly match the items in the basket to the letter block. I pull out the items as we go through the words. I have blocks A-E. I have an Alligator and airplane flashcard for Aa. I have a ball, bugs, and a bird for Bb. I have a cup, and a cat flashcard for Cc. I have a drum, drumstick, dino, and a dog flashcard for Dd. Lastly, I have an elephant and an egg for Ee. I have an alphabet puzzle with letters A-E out. I will let Aryi Identify the letters from a few pieces and he can place the letters in his alphabet puzzle as we say A is for AAAA,  B is for BBBB, C is for CCCC, and so on. We can read whatever related books Aryi wants to that day. I have 5 Alphabet books; ‘abc’, ‘Once Upon an Alphabet’, ‘A is for Apple’, ‘AB See” and touch and feel ABC. Then we can do a Letter related coloring page or craft. I get some of these crafts from education.com and Easy Peasy All-in-one Homeschool. I also just make some crafts myself.

This format has been working well for us. Aryi thought we were playing and reading books like always, but we were learning too.Aryi comes to me and says basket, basket like 5 times a day. He enjoys this so much. To him it is play, to me, he is learning.

Number Basket:

I am keeping this number basket pretty much the same. I have number flashcards, tactile number flashcards 1, 2, and 3, and a peg board with the numbers 1, 2, and 3. I also have all of our numbers and books in here: ”Numbers”, “How Many?”, “Counting with Barefoot Critters”, “Big and Little”, “Let’s Count”, “Baby Math”, “Poppy’s Surprise”, “Few and Many”, and “Pop-up Peekaboo Numbers”.
