Potty Training in 3 Days by Brandi Brucks - Physical Book
September 5, 2024
I wanted to read this book as well as Oh Crap! Potty Training! in preparation for our potty training journey. I picked and chose what I thought would work for us from the two books. It was so funny to me how much the two books contradict each other, but I think both helped.
I wanted to start by saying I never expected for Aryi to be potty trained in 3 days. I had hope that he would understand what we are doing in 3 days by following what was outlined in this book. He did. He fully understood what was expected of him. He however, was not physically there yet it took a few days. He was pretty much fully pee potty trained after a week, poop is a whole other battle that we did not get to face. Aryi got sick a few weeks into this potty training process and we decided to take a break. If you have a toddler, you know how it is when they get sick, everything regresses. He was having accidents all day. We should be starting again shortly after I post this.
This book talks about timing, attitude, speaking potty, introducing the toilet, the first 3 days, and after the first 3 days. In 101 short sweet pages full of pictures and tips.
This book starts by walking you through if your kid is ready or not. Based on the criteria outlined in the book Aryi was ready.
This book reminds you you are the boss, do not get upset, it’s just potty training. This was super hard for me when Aryi got sick and regressed so much, and this is why we decided to take a break. I was not showing how upset I was, but kids see things, he probably felt it.
This book talks about teaching your family to talk potty. We already did this. Aryi is the most curious little kid there was, so we tell him when we go potty. He likes to go with us. “`He asks about the potty and we answer his questions. `
This book suggested rewards such as M&Ms and stickers. This sounded like it would work well for my son, so we did both.
This book tells you to keep undies on and the other one says to start out naked. We tried undies for the first about 4 days because I didn’t want to get pee all over my house, and then I said what the hell, maybe it will work. We had way more success when we did go naked. It was like Aryi did not want to make a mess. He never had a naked accident. Next round we will start out naked for a few days.
There are some great tips, I would say the best tip is don’t leave your kid alone for one second. That is when they will pee in their underpants. It’s 100 percent true. The second I left the room he peed.
Do I recommend this book? Yes! With the understanding that 3 days is crazy. You kid will probably not be potty trained in 3 days. They may just understand what is happening in 3 days. Plus, it’s only 100 pages, but dense with information and tips.
