St. Patrick's Day Fun, Activities, and Sensory Bins
February 23, 2024
Intro
I love to make holiday baskets for Aryi to enjoy as we celebrate. I feel like my baskets help him learn a little bit about the holiday ahead of time. We get to celebrate for an entire month with fun little toys and activities. None of this is necessary, I am just extra. You can also do a cheaper version of this with only dollar tree and library items.
Lucky Charms Cereal – Target – $I didn’t keep the receipt. Sorry.
I thought it would be super fun to have some lucky charms cereal this week. I do not give Aryi cereal for breakfast. I believe in real food for breakfast, something that isn’t going to make you hungry 1 hour later. I do, however, think it makes a fun snack. I plan to serve this in one of the dollar tree cauldrons as a fun little treat.
Chocolate coins – $Free (not really but I had these leftover from Christmas)
I have some leftover chocolate coins we did not use at Christmas. I thought these would be fun and cute to put out for Aryi in a little cauldron.
Library books – $Free
‘Rainbow’, ‘Five little Leprechauns’, and ‘Babby’s First St. Patrick’s Day’
I love adding to my holiday baskets with Library books. They are an amazing, free way to add some fun and learning to you holidays. Aryi in particular loves books, so this works for him.
You’re My Little Lucky Charm Book – Walmart – $7.89
I got library books, like I just said above. I decided I wanted to buy this book anyway. We have a book in this series called ‘You’re My Little Cuddle Bug’. We love that book, so I wanted to get this one as well.
Cup holder – Parade – $Free
I don’t know what Aryi is going to do with this, but we caught it at Mardi Gras so I stuck it in the basket. We don’t really use these and Aryi is super creative. He will find something to do with it.
Clover Glasses – Dollar Tree – $1.75
Aryi loves glasses. I always try to find him holiday themed glasses for his baskets. If the green pair from Mardi Gras survived, I will add it to the basket as well.
Sensory Bin Stuff
Pots – Dollar Tree – $1.25
Coins – Amazon – $5.99
Chia Seeds – Trader Joe’s – $Free (not really but I had these)
Leprechauns – Dollar Tree – $1.25
Clovers – Dollar Tree – $1.25
Rainbow – Amazon – $9.99
I am planning on putting the rainbow behind the bin on our table when we play with each bin.
Sensory bin 1
Green lentils, spoon, pots, clovers and coins
Aryi can dig coins out of the lentils and put them in the pots. We can count coins and clovers. We can practice scooping the lentils into the pot. There are tons of things to do with this sensory bin. Aryi will probably think of 10 things I didn’t.
Sensory bin 2
Chia seed pudding with coins and a pot
I made chia seed pudding with chia seeds, water and green dye. I threw coins and a pot in and allowed it to firm up in the fridge. This is a messy outdoor activity for sure.
Sensory bin 3
Rainbow everything
Rainbow pom poms, pipe cleaners, peg people, and popsicle sticks, spoon, bowl, and colander
I love how everything starts with a p. We can practice our colors, make a rainbow with popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, or people, practice scooping up pom poms, or stick pipe cleaners through the colander. We could also match the items into colors; grab the green pom poms, pipe cleaner, peg person, and popsicle stick.
I reused the Basket from Mardi Gras. That brings the total of everything to $28.87 plus tax (plus the cereal that I do not have a price for).
