Lovevery Review 11: The Helper Play Kit (Months 25-27)
July 30, 2024
Disclaimer
My son was born prematurely. He was born at 26 weeks and 6 days (3 months and 1 day early). If this box is for a toddler 22-24 months old, that means it should have worked for Aryi at 26-29 months, in theory. In the past year, he has really caught up to his chronological age and according to our Developmental NP surpassed it. Therefore this playkit for the most part has been great for him at his current stage. I feel that all of this makes our experience with development and play particularly unique, and our thoughts on the playkits particularly unique.
Play Guide Months 25-27
As always, this play guide is amazing. It gives you so many activities to do with the toys in the kits. There are also extra age appropriate activities to do with your toddler that involve cheap things you can buy or things laying around your home. In addition to this there is great information about development and what is going on with your little one at this age.

Sink with Cups and Plates
Aryi ADORES this toy. Waterplay is one of the most fun toys for toddlers. They are learning so much when they play with it. It works great. The quality is actually not as high as most Lovevery toys. I think that is because water is a huge part of it, so it has to be plastic. I also love how easy of an activity this is. You don’t need anything special to prepare this sensory activity, just fill it with water. We only use this outside typically. It will be messy, any water activity will be messy though. There are a lot of sinks like this on Amazon. They are all more expensive with this one, but they all come with extra toys like food to play with. Quality will probably be similar to anything on Amazon just due to the fact it is plastic. However, the Lovevery one is prettier than anything you can buy on Amazon.

Drop and Match Dot Catcher
This is a super fun toy to play with. Color matching is a super important skill to learn at this early age. Aryi has actually already learned color matching, and it is losing its fun a little. Aryi is now finding it a little more fun just organizing his dots in all different places and make his own designs. I was able to find a Connect 4 on Amazon that is a similar fine motor skill toy. It is however missing the color matching component. It will grow more though, Connect 4 is a game I would be happy to still play as an adult. The connect 4 I found does have a wooden base much like the wooden legs on the dot catcher. Overall the products are really similar, and the Amazon dupe is only about a dollar more.

Felt Flowers in a Row
rAryi loves these flowers. We talk about what color they are. He loves to post them as they are posting toys. They are just fun to play with. You can find a dupe on amazon of flowers that can be posted. However, they are nothing alike. The Amazon dupe is of lower quality, plastic, and smaller. It is also half the price.

Double-Sided Sunny Day Puzzle
Wow! I am realizing what a win this entire kit was. This is definitely my favorite, and I would say Aryi’s favorite item from this kit. This puzzle has a different image on each size. The same pieces are used to make the two different images. I think this is an amazing concept. It is like the beginning of a tangram. Aryi thinks it is so fun. He pretends the tree is a spoon and says the fish is mama’s fish. He will do one side, flip it over and do the other for the longest time. I can not brag about this toy enough. It truly is a genius next step in puzzles. I couldn’t find anything too similar on Amazon, but I did find a tangram about half the price. A tangram would be way to advanced at this stage.

Anywhere Art Kit with Paint Sticks
The first thing I want to say about this “Anywhere” art kit. It is NOT for anywhere. These paint sticks are advertised as “no mess”. That couldn’t be further from the truth. It was messy. It is also fun. But, if you read this blog, I do want you to know it is messy. So, these paint sticks are basically markers, but paint. They are messier than markers, but cleaner than paint. They are super fun, and it is always nice to have more art supplies. I love the case. You could throw regular markers in there as well for a real no mess anywhere art kit. They also look so beautiful when dry, like you painted. You can get the crayola paint sticks and a pencil case for about 4 dollars cheaper.

Let’s Map It Out Routine Cards
These routine cards are super fun. It is so fun to go through your morning and night routines. These are of nice quality. I would think cardboard box, not just paper cards. They are similar to the flashcards from the earlier kit. You can get laminated flashcards from Amazon for about 4 dollars cheaper. The Amazon dupe does come with a lot more cards.

‘Making Muffins’
This is the cutest little flap book. In the book you make muffins with a dad and his daughter while counting ingredients and lifting a flap on each page. Aryi LOVES this book. He loves to ask about what happened pointing to their flour covered faces. We love the real people in Lovevery books. I found an animated dupe for about half the price.

‘More Opposites’ and ‘Olivia Goes to the Dentist’
Both of these books are very cute. Ary loves the ‘More Opposites’ one in particular. We already have an Opposites one. Having more opposites to talk about is so fun. We do like the dentist one as well. But, Aryi has only been to the dentist once, so there is not as much interest. We do have a dentist appointment coming up in the near future. I plan to pull this out shortly before to go through daily. I love that these books are real people doing real things. The dupes I found are about the same price, but definitely not as engaging

Worth it?
Amazon Dupes total out to be $120.75 before taxes are added.
The Lovevery Playkits come in a few buying options(7 items/playkit and 2 items/book bundle):

$138 for 1 box with book bundle ($144.14 after taxes) – $17.91/item + $9.40/book bundle item
$342 for 3 boxes ($357.21 after taxes) – $17.01/item
$396 for 3 boxes with book bundle ($413.61 after taxes) – $17.01/item + $9.40/book bundle item
$432 for 4 boxes ($451.24 after taxes) – $16.12/item
$504 for 4 boxes with book bundle ($526.44 after taxes) – $16.12/item + $9.40/book bundle item
You save $18.81 buying 3 kits and $50.12 buying 4 kits.
No, it isn’t worth it for this particular box if you are looking strictly at dupe prices vs. Lovevery prices. You can make a similar box for about $18 cheaper (at the 1 box price). However, when it comes to quality and originality, I think this kit is worth it. You can not find better quality toys that have been thought through more than those made by Lovevery. This entire kit was a hit and we did not have one toy I would want to do without.
