Kiwico Review 14: Deluxe Panda Crate, Let’s Sort! (26-27 Months)

Kiwico Review 14: Deluxe Panda Crate, Let's Sort! (26-27 Months)

August 6, 2024

Disclaimer

My son was born prematurely. He was born at 26 weeks and 6 days (3 months and 1 day early). If this box is for a baby 24-25 months, that means it should work for Aryi 22-27 months, in theory. Aryi was starting to catch up to his age at about a year. He is now fully caught up and surpassed developmental milestones for his age. That means these toys should be appropriate for him now. We are very proud of how far he has come. I feel that all of this makes our experience with development and play particularly unique.

Wonder Play Guide

You get a Wonder Play Guide in each crate that is specific for that age range and development. Dr. D answers a question, there are panda tips, you get instructions for how to play with each of the toys in the crate, and DIY or cheap activities to do.

Rainbow Block Puzzle

This puzzle is beautiful. The pieces look like something you could eat, like candy. Aryi loves a good puzzle. This is no different. I will say, this puzzle was a bit easy for him. Maybe it should have been in an earlier crate. He mastered it immediately. Quality is nice. I couldn’t find anything quite like this on Amazon. The dupe I found was $4.99. There is no puzzle board, but it is shapes that fit together to make a square.

Fishing Game

This toy is super fun. The quality is not that amazing, but what do you expect? I am glad that it is felt and not a teeny tiny magnet. The tiny magnets terrify me. I love that the back of the “pond” has matching shadows to the shapes. You can turn this into a game with the animal and color cards. There is a magnetic fishing game on amazon for $5 more.

Kiwico: $15.00

Amazon: $19.99

Bubble Counter

Aryi loves to pop these bubbles. If you watched our unboxing video you can see he gravitated to this immediately. I love that we can pop red bubbles or count to 10. Aryi has other pop it that are flat. I love that this one is on a stand so that when you push it, you just don’t hit the floor. The dupe I found is a flat one, but it has the numbers on it. It is about half the price.

Sensory Play Lightbox

This lightbox was the most disappointing experience I have had from any of these boxes. First, it did not come. I had to speak to customer service. It turns out they had me on the wrong plan. He fixed it and had it sent to us the next week. After we got it, we had fun with it for a few days. After a few days, the plastic pieces started cracking and chipping. The wire broke so now we can’t turn it off. All together this was super disappointing. You can buy just this lightbox for $79.95. I would never do that!! That is the biggest ripoff I have ever heard of. I would buy the plus crate for $80.00 and then cancel the subscription. It makes no sense that it can be sold for $27.00 in the crate. That means it is worth $27.00. I wouldn’t say it is worth that. It is falling apart. You can get a light box and shapes on Amazon for about $105.00.

Kiwico: $27.00 (sold separately on website for $79.95)

Amazon: $89.99 + $15.25

‘Ten on a Twig’

This book is a cute little counting book. I love that the pages start off smaller and get bigger with each bird. It is kind of like in The Hungry Caterpillar. You can get the same book on Amazon for $0.99 more.

Kiwico: $10.00

Amazon:$10.99

Worth it?

Amazon Dupes total out to be $149.11 + tax

The Panda crate can come in a few buying options.

Essentials Crate:

$50 + tax/crate for 1 crate ($50 + tax total)

$48 + tax/crate for 3 crates ($144 + tax total)

$45 + tax/crate for 6 crates ($270 + tax total)

Plus Crate:

$80 + tax/crate for 1 crate ($80 + tax total)

$76 + tax/crate for 3 crates ($228 + tax total)

$72 + tax/crate for 6 crates ($432 + tax total)

Deluxe Crate:

$90 + tax/crate for 1 crate ($90 + tax total)

$86 + tax/crate for 3 crates ($250 + tax total)

$82 + tax/crate for 6 crates ($492 + tax total) – This is the one I bought and will be

comparing to.

This makes it $15.00/toy, $27.00 for the plus toy, and $10.00 for the book.

Is it worth it? This crate is particularly hard for me to talk about. It would be 100% worth it if the light box wasn’t a piece of crap. The light box was one of the toys I was looking forward to the most and it was a complete disappointment. But, I don’t know. We enjoyed the rest of the toys, but there is just a sour taste about the whole crate for me now.
