Aryi's Winter/Christmas Basket 2023
November 23, 2023
What is a Winter/Christmas Basket?
A winter basket is a basket, trunk, tub, container of some sort that you bring out at the beginning of December (or the day after Thanksgiving in our house). This is not only new things, and not only old things. In this basket you put new holiday themed toys, activities, books, etc that are appropriate for the age of your child. You also put in the holiday themed books, toys, and activities from years prior that are still appropriate. This is ment to help you celebrate the holiday all month long. For us, the holiday we celebrate is Christmas, but if you celebrate another holiday this could be a basket for that.
Books
The Night Before Christmas (Amazon)
This is a Christmas classic. If you have a Christmas basket, you should definitely include this book. I bought a huge board book version and it is absolutely beautiful.
If Animals Celebrated Christmas (Amazon)
We have the If Animals Kissed Goodnight Book. We absolutely adore it. I saw that they had other books in almost like a series. I have the Halloween and Thanksgiving ones. I thought We needed this one to add to the Christmas collection.
Santa and the Goodnight Train (Amazon)
This book is the same as the Animals one. We have the original Goodnight Train book. Aryi loves it so much. I found out they had other books. We have the Halloween one. I wanted to get this one as well.
Christmas Stickers (Amazon)
Aryi loves these kinds of stickers. We have some from Halloween and Thanksgiving. They are so much fun. He gets to put the eye stickers where the eyes go, the mouth where the mouth goes. He is always kind of off, but he tries so hard. You can see the wheels turning in his head and the fine motor skills being learned when he is using stickers.
Polar Bear (Amazon)
I love to give Aryi a Holtztiger animal for holidays. He has a baby and dada lion, a chick, and 3 dinosaurs. I thought a Polar Bear was appropriate for Christmas. They are supposed to be heirloom quality and I would love to see Aryi keep these and pass them down one day. They are Beautiful.
Christmas glasses (Dollar Tree)Aryi is obsessed with glasses. I feel like I get him glasses or sunglasses for every holiday. I saw these at the dollar tree literally for $1.25. I thought, this is perfect. This can go in the basket to be played with every winter.
Jingle bells (Dollar Tree)
Aryi loves music and instruments. I saw this at the dollar tree and needed it for Aryi. I just know we are going to have so much fun singing jingle bells and playing with this.
Sensory bin supplies
Pipe cleaners (Amazon)
I am planning to pull out the red pipe cleaners, sticks, and puff balls from this craft set to use in sensory bins.
Christmas trees (Dollar Tree)
Wooden Snowmen (Dollar Tree)
I will paint these white with a black hat, I may or may not add a face and add them to a sensory bin.
Wooden Trees (Dollar Tree)
I will cover these in green paint and stick them in a sensory bin.
Red, Green, and White Pom Poms (Dollar Tree)
I thought these could be fun in a bin.
Playdough (Amazon)
Rice
Orzo died green
Bow tie pasta died green and red
We also have a few books, plushies, and some gingerbread squeaky toys from last year that will go into the basket when I get our Christmas supplies down from the Attic the day after Thanksgiving. I will also stack up Aryi’s new Christmas and clothes next to the basket for him to have fun going through.
I think some other cute ideas to add to a basket like this are Christmas sheets that you reuse every year, a Christmas throw, Christmas cookie cutters, and a Christmas cup. There of tons of things you can add to your basket
