Do A Toy Rotation With Me 6

November 23, 2023

For some background introduction information on toy rotations see my first toy rotation blog at by clicking the link.

Aryi really loved all of the toys that were out this week. His favorites this week in particular were the blockset, doctor kits, dinosaur puzzle, pegboard, and the shape puzzle. The pegboard being the absolute favorite. Aryi has been practicing matching colored circles to colored pegs for the last week and a half and he has not gotten tired of it. He is just getting better.  The rest of the toys were very less played with this week.

This week’s toys and books:

Again this week isn’t really themed. This is weird for us. There are usually themes. This week we got another Lovevery kit, so I put out all of the toys that come from this kit. I also kept some of the toys from last week. I didn’t really want to add anything else in to take away from all of the new things.

Books (Lovevery from all kits) – Aryi loves his Lovevery books. I thought these could get more use this week.

Flashcards (Lovevery) – Aryi can name almost everything on these cards. He loves to go through these and point to the items and touch the fur on the cat and the dog.

Number flashcards (Kiwico) – Aryi has been loving to pretend to count lately. I thought it would be good for him to add in these counting cards.

Books (Lovevery kit 9) – The new books that came in this kit are about potty training and going to the doctor.

Shape puzzle (Lovevery) – Aryi has been super into puzzles lately so hopefully this will be a good puzzle for him and he catches on quickly.

Animals and animal pockets (Lovevery) – Aryi loves animals, and he knows every single animal on this chart. When I pulled this out he immediately matched all of the animals. Now he just needs to learn how to put them in the pockets.

Van with peg people (Lovevery) – This is super cute. We can put the pegs in the matching color spots, roll the van around. I can call it a bus, not a van, so we can sing wheels on the bus.

Flashlight (Lovevery) – I love how easy the button is to press. This could be great to play with when it gets dark. We could make finger puppets.

Lockbox (Lovevery) – I think this is a super cool idea. It is almost like a busy board, but in portable box form.

Pouring containers (Lovevery) – I am looking forward to playing with this with Aryi. Pouring is so good for fine motor skills.

Pegboard (Kiwico) – We have been playing with this for about 2 weeks now and Aryi really loves it. We are working on matching the color circle to the peg and learning the color names. I am keeping this out again because it has been such a huge hit, but also because he needs to work on differentiating some of the more similar colors.

Blockset (Lovevery) – I am keeping this out, again, just because I don’t want to add in any extra new toys so Aryi can focus on learning from the new ones more.

Library books – I have some fall and Thanksgiving books that I have checked out. I also checked out Pete the Cat and His 4 Groovy Buttons. This was read at a read and sing last week. Aryi has been obsessed with his belly button. I thought this would be fun to check out. There is also some counting involved, which Aryi loves.

Letter Basket:

I am adding a letter basket to our rotation. This is meant to be sort of a morning basket, toddler homeschool type of thing. I think we will go through this in the mornings before we do our daily outings. The point will be to try to learn letters and their sounds.

I will play the videos from The Good and The Beautiful, the abcs, and the appropriate letter sound video.

I will say the letter and show it to Aryi. They I will say the letter sound. This is an A and it says AAAA. I will read him the Easy Peasy alphabet story that goes with the letter. For A this is April the Alligator. Then we will go through words that start with the Letter A. I will pull out the items as we go through the words. For A I have an Alligator, Airplane, an Airplane flashcard, A block, Letter A, and Ant. Aryi can place the letter A in his alphabet puzzle as we say A is for AAAA.

We can read whatever related books Aryi wants to that day. I have an Alphabet book, Alligator book, Airplane book, and an Apple book.

Then we can do an A related coloring page or craft.
