Do A Toy Rotation With Me 8

Do A Toy Rotation With Me 8

December 7, 2023

For some background introduction information on toy rotations see my first toy rotation blog at by clicking the link.

Last week’s toys and books:

The theme of the last week was music and fine motor skills. Aryi had a blast bringing out every single instrument that was laid out. He also played with all of the other toys I took out. Everything was a hit. I do feel like I need to move the Lovevery book stack next to a chair because that is where we read.

This week’s toys and books:

This week the theme for our toy rotation is going to be vehicles, counting and stacking.

Vehicles (Melissa and Doug) – Aryi loves to play with cars. I have 2 sets of Melissa and Doug cars for him to play with.

Airplane(Carter’s)  – Aryi will fly his airplane through the air and say whoosh.

Bus (Lovevery) – We will continue featuring wheels on the bus this week as we play with vehicles. Bus starts with B, so we can also use this to practice our Bb is for BBBB.

Mickey Mouse Fire Truck (gift) –  Another vehicle for Aryi to play pretend. Maybe this week we can watch the Ms. Rachel and Blippi vehicles episode and make emergency vehicle sounds.

Ball Drops (Lovevery) – Aryi liked these last week. He will enjoy them again this week. I don’t usually want to change every single toy that is out.

Number cards (Kiwico) – I brought these out to work on our counting this week.

Pegboard (Kiwico) – This toy is great for counting and color matching. Aryi adores this toy. It is always the first to be played with when it is out.

Flashlight (Lovevery) – I just threw this into the rotation, no real rhyme or reason.

Stacker (Lovevery) – We can count as we stack.

Pegboard (Lovevery) – Again, we can count as we stack and then watch them all fall down.

Lovevery Books – Aryi has been loving to have these sitting out. I think I will just keep them out indefinitely since he never gets bored of them.

Math Books – I pulled out all of the baby math and counting books to go along with all of the counting I want to do this week.

Library Books – I held a bunch of Christmas Library books and that is what I have out along with Pete the cat and his groovy buttons. Aryi has been obsessed with his belly button since first reading this book. I also have a color book with just a bunch of things Aryi can say.

Letter Basket:

This week I switched out our Aa basket for a Bb basket. I am absolutely Amazed by how well he picked up on the Aa basket and hope he continues to catch on.

The videos I will be  playing are The Good and The Beautiful ABCs and ABC sounds, the Letter Bb from ABCmouse, How to write the Letter Bb from ABCmouse, and Betty the Bee from Easy Peasy. These are the links for those songs in the order I wrote them:

I say the letter and show it to Aryi. Then I will said the letter sound. This is a B and it says BBBBB. We go through words that start with the Letter Bb. I pull out the items as we go through the words. For B I have a ball, bread, bunny, bus, bear, bird, bugs, blocks, bee, butterfly, and b word flashcards. I have an alphabet puzzle. I will let Aryi Identify the letter B from a few pieces and He can place the letters in his alphabet puzzle as we say A is for AAAA and B is for BBBB. We can read whatever related books Aryi wants to that day. I have 2 Alphabet books and books that feature a baby, bugs, bees, a bus, and a bear. I got all of these books from the library except the A is for Apple Alphabet book. This is a great way for us to practice our B sound when Aryi points to the things in the book and says what they are. Then we can do a B related coloring page or craft.

This format worked so well with Aa. Aryi thought we were playing and reading books like always, but we were learning too. I plan to have this basket out for the next two books.
